Program Description:

Applications for the Spring 2016 undergraduate exchange between the Department of Languages, Cultures, and International Trade at SIUC and the Zürich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) will be accepted until November 16, 2015 (Monday before Thanksgiving).

Applicants will be judged on German language proficiency, grades on official transcripts, letters of recommendation, and seriousness of purpose as expressed in the letter of application.

Notification of nominee(s) will be made on December 1, 2015.  The award is subject to approval of our nominee(s) by Zürich University of Applied Sciences.  Award is also subject to receipt of proper Visa before departure from the United States.

Exchange Highlights

Stipendium: CHF 1,500/month (equivalent of about $1,500/month) for the Spring 2016 semester

Eligibility

Preference will be given to majors in the German Studies and FLIT-German programs.

Costs

Nominee pays own travel costs, SIUC tuition (no fees), passport, and Visa fees.

Additional Information

Both foreign language and subject area specialization courses are offered. All courses are taught in German or target language.

Application

Applications may be submitted to the FLIT Office through November 16, 2015.

Must submit:

  • letter of interest/application (express seriousness of purpose)
  • 2 letters of recommendation
  • Lebenslauf
  • Official transcripts (sent directly to FLIT Office)
  • Verification of German proficiency, if not currently enrolled in a German class at SIUC
