Program Description:

Plaza Cervantes, Alcalá de Hen

Welcome to the Languages, Cultures, and International Trade (LCIT) faculty-led study abroad program in Spain! This program offers students a complete and intensive immersion experience in the Spanish language and culture in Alcalá de Henares, Spain.  Students improve their language proficiency and engage with the culture both by taking classes at the Instituto Franklin at the University of Alcalá and by living with a host family.  Students can earn between 6 and 12 credit hours that can count towards the minor or major in Spanish, and towards the FLIT or International Studies degree.  At the same time, students and parents will have the security of knowing that a LCIT/SIUC faculty member will accompany the students and be available to ease students' transition into the culture. This faculty member will also be there to assist with any problems or issues that may arise during the study abroad program.
