Program Description:

The University of Macau (UM) was founded in 1981 as a private institution by the name of University of East Asia. Through three decades' development, it has become a leading university in Macau. UM offers approximately 100 bachelor's, master's and PhD programs—with English as the main medium of instruction—through various academic units, including Faculty of Business Administration, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Science and Technology, Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences, and Honors College. UM currently has more than 8,100 students and 400 teaching staff members. UM is committed to producing outstanding graduates for society, becoming a world-class university, providing elite undergraduate education, developing a high-calibre faculty team, enhancing the development of unique academic programs, and building an efficient and environmentally friendly campus.

Macau, China (approximately an hour south by ferry from Hong Kong)

This is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Number of Participants

One to three per semester.

Housing

 NOTE: The university is moving to a new campus so there will likely be different rates and options for 2014.

On campus

  • Rental: USD 150/month
  • Caution fee: USD 200

Off Campus

  • Rental: USD 450/month
  • Utilities (electricity, water, and gas): USD 60/month

Transportation

There are extensive local transportation options available.

Exchange Cost

SIU tuition for 15 credits at your individual rate plus study administration of $175 per semester. Registration will be adjusted based on your actual enrollment.

Additional Information

There will be different semester dates for 2013-14 because of the move to a new campus:

Fall 2013 - Early October 2013 to Mid-February 2014
Spring 2014 - Late February 2014 to Mid-June 2014

a. I.D. card/Passport copy (both sides on one A4 paper and PDF format);

b. Photo (passport size photo in JPEG/GIF/PNG format preferably in JPEG file with 300dpi, with no border and white background);

c. Required academic documents specified in our Admission Regulation.

NOTE: Total size for all documents should not be greater than 6MB. Applications without the above-mentioned documents will not be processed.
