Program Description:
Salzburg College: Your individualized Study abroad experience!

Located in one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, Salzburg College offers you an academic program tailored to your needs, with small classes and dedicated professors who encourage you to integrate your personal experience into your course work. Make Salzburg, Austria, and Europe your classroom!

Upon students' arrival in Austria, there will be a two-day introductory field trip in Munich and Bavaria allowing students to get to know the other participants, adjust to their new European environment, learn to navigate a European city, and discover the site-specific interplay of history and contemporary reality.

Academic Program

Salzburg College offers coursework in European Studies, Business/Communication, Hospitality & Tourism Management, German language and literature, Art and Art History, and Music and Music history. In addition, there are independent study, honors and internship options. See the program web site for further details.

Salzburg

Salzburg is one of the most beautiful European cities, and as such, has been carefully preserved over the centuries. It is surrounded by spectacular landscapes, lakes, Alpine foothills and mountain peaks.

Housing

In most cases, you will live with an Austrian family to deepen your knowledge of Austrian life and culture. Breakfast, dinner and most weekend meals are included. Alternatively, you may also stay at a university residence hall, usually with an Austrian student. Weekday breakfasts and dinners are included in the dorm living option. In either case, lunches are provided by Salzburg College on school days.

Other Activities and Field Trips

There are two major field trips included in the program. Upon students' arrival in Munich, there will be a two-day introductory field trip permitting students to get to know the other participants, adjust to their European environment, learn to navigate a European city and discover the site-specific interplay of history and contemporary reality.

The second field trip to Vienna is connected to our general courses about Austria. You will have the opportunity to see the places that you have been studying and bring the history and culture to life!

There are a number of local excursions in Salzburg and the region. You will also have the opportunity-depending on the season-to go hiking, biking and rafting or skiing, and to learn Austrian cooking. For further information on the field trips and other activities, please see the program site.
