HOMESTAY: COSTA RICAN FAMILY
Housing for our program always includes your own room. You will know where and with whom you are living, at least two weeks prior to your program's start date as long as we have your e-mail address to send the information to you.
If you are living with a family, don't expect to use their telephone. Students may only receive calls. Local calls are also limited. Students should plan to bring an international calling card, and purchase a local telephone card upon arrival. Phone cards can be purchased easily, giving you access from almost any public phone. Bring along small extras like an alarm clock and hangers.
- All of our families are within walking distance of the campus.
- Host family provides two meals per day. Luch can be purchased at the University's cafeteria for around $4.50 or at nearby restaurants.
- If a student arrives earlier than the orientation date or departs later than the finishing dates, she/he must pay for extra days of homestay.
The following are provided within the homestay program:
- Breakfast
- Dinner
- Keys
- Blankets
- Pillow
- Sheets
- Laundry once a week
- Own room
- Pots and pans
- Towels for shower but not beach towels
- WiFi
APARTMENTS AND RESIDENCES
There are few furnished apartments or rooms in the Student Residences available. Apartments are set with basic needs such as pots, pans, and linens. The apartments do not always have private telephone lines. Universidad VERITAS doesn't own any of these apartments, so we can't guarantee placement or availability. Students must pay directly to the landlord in Costa Rica.
If you would like to stay in an apartment, we suggest you book 3 to 4 days in a bed & breakfast or youth hostel, so you can come and look at available apartments and choose the one that suits your needs and budget. Some apartment landlords might require a deposit in order to be precautious against damages.
